Compliance Archiving for Bridged Messages
SyncRivo does not provide a compliance archive. Bridged messages land in each connected platform, where that platform's own retention and archive tools apply.
The compliance gap in multi-platform messaging
When employees communicate across Slack and Teams simultaneously, each platform's compliance tools only cover content on that platform. SyncRivo does not add an archive of its own. What it does is post bridged messages into the connected channels, so the bridged copy exists on each platform where that platform's retention settings apply. Check with your compliance team whether your platforms' native archiving covers your requirements.
What SyncRivo records
- ✓Activity log of sync activity for your connections
- ✓Security event history (for example sign-ins, role changes and exports)
- ✓JSON export of dashboard activity
- ✓Source and destination message IDs, used to keep threads, edits and reactions in sync
- ✓No message content on the normal relay path
How SyncRivo fits your compliance setup
Event ingestion and signature verification
Every inbound event is verified before it is relayed: Slack request signatures, Teams Bot Framework authentication, Google Chat token audience checks, Zoom signatures and Webex webhook signatures. Duplicate events are filtered so platform retries do not create duplicate messages.
No archive or immutable storage
SyncRivo does not write messages to WORM storage and does not provide tamper-evident or immutable logs. Its activity log and security event history are operational records, not a regulatory archive.
Use native platform retention
Configure retention, legal hold and export in each platform you use. Bridged messages are posted into those platforms, so they are available to the platform's own tools alongside natively posted messages.
Platform-specific behavior
Here is how bridged messages relate to each messaging platform's own retention tools. SyncRivo does not archive messages on any platform.
| Platform | Behavior | Known limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Slack | Bridged messages are posted into Slack channels, where Slack's retention and export settings apply. | Messages from bots and apps are not relayed, so they appear only on their original platform. |
| Microsoft Teams | Bridged messages are posted into Teams by the SyncRivo app, where Microsoft Purview policies you configure apply. | Channel inbound requires the app installed to the team. |
| Google Chat | Bridged messages are posted into Google Chat spaces, where Google Vault settings you configure apply. | Inbound edits, deletes and reactions depend on Workspace Events subscriptions. |
| Zoom Team Chat | Bridged messages are posted into Zoom channels from the SyncRivo app. | Messages are posted from the app, not as the original sender. |
| Cisco Webex | Bridged messages are posted into Webex spaces, where Webex retention settings apply. | Emoji reactions are not synced on Webex. |
Frequently asked questions
- Does SyncRivo provide a compliance archive for cross-platform messages?
- No. SyncRivo does not archive messages and does not provide immutable or WORM storage. It keeps an activity log of sync activity and a security event history, exportable as JSON. For message retention, use each platform's native tools.
- How does SyncRivo handle e-discovery across Slack and Teams?
- Because SyncRivo posts bridged messages into the destination channel, the copy that lands on each platform is subject to that platform's own retention and e-discovery tools (for example Slack exports, Microsoft Purview or Google Vault, depending on your plans). SyncRivo does not provide legal hold or e-discovery export features.
- Does SyncRivo store message content for compliance?
- No. Message content is not stored on the normal relay path; SyncRivo keeps only message IDs so threads, edits and reactions stay in sync. The optional retry queue temporarily holds undelivered messages. Message content archiving should be handled by each platform's native archiving (Slack Enterprise Grid, Microsoft Purview, Google Vault).
- Is SyncRivo's compliance archive FINRA or SEC 17a-4 compatible?
- SyncRivo does not offer a FINRA- or SEC 17a-4-compliant archive and has no connector to archiving vendors. Firms with recordkeeping obligations should capture messages with an archiving solution that supports each of their messaging platforms directly.
