Which messaging providers support EU-only data residency?
Among the major enterprise messaging platforms, EU data residency is available but always as a paid or enterprise-tier control: Slack offers it through Enterprise Grid Data Residency, Microsoft Teams through Microsoft 365 Advanced Data Residency or Multi-Geo, Google Chat through Google Workspace Data Regions (data-at-rest only), Zoom Team Chat through its Data Residency enterprise add-on, and Cisco Webex through region-pinned org provisioning. None of these controls extends to third-party integrations automatically — any bridge or bot that processes messages must implement its own regional processing.
SyncRivo does not offer regional processing. It is hosted in the US on Google Cloud (us-central1), with no customer-selectable region. Message content is not stored on the normal relay path. The platform-specific behavior and known limitations for each provider are documented in the table below.
Data residency in cross-platform messaging
For enterprises operating under GDPR, the UK GDPR, or Swiss DPA, any service that processes personal data must meet their data residency and transfer requirements. A messaging bridge processes user messages — which contain personal data. If your policy requires in-region processing in the EU or elsewhere outside the US, SyncRivo's US hosting may not meet it. If US processing is acceptable, SyncRivo provides a DPA and sub-processor list.

How message data flows through SyncRivo
Event ingestion
Each platform (Slack Events API, Microsoft Bot Framework, Google Chat app events, Zoom and Webex webhooks) delivers message events over TLS to SyncRivo's single hosting region, Google Cloud us-central1 in the US. Webhook signatures are verified on all five platforms.
Routing and transformation
SyncRivo translates the message for each destination platform and posts it through that platform's API. Message content is not stored on the normal relay path; SyncRivo keeps message IDs so threads, edits and reactions stay in sync, and files pass through memory only.
Stored data and sub-processor transparency
SyncRivo stores connection settings, message IDs, synced directory data, an activity log and security event history, and encrypted provider OAuth tokens. A DPA and sub-processor list are available so your privacy team can review the data path. SyncRivo does not currently hold a SOC 2 report; we provide a security questionnaire and architecture review on request.

- GDPR is not a certification. SyncRivo provides a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) and a sub-processor list. Because SyncRivo is hosted in the US, EU organizations should assess the transfer of personal data to the US under their own GDPR obligations.
