Running Zoom for calls and Google Chat for team messaging? You're not alone — and you're probably losing valuable context every time a meeting ends without its summary landing where your team actually works.
This guide shows you exactly how to set up a Zoom to Google Chat integration using SyncRivo, so Zoom Team Chat messages, thread replies, and files stay in sync with your Google Chat spaces.
Why Zoom and Google Chat Don't Talk by Default
Zoom and Google Chat are both category leaders in their respective domains — Zoom dominates video conferencing, Google Chat dominates messaging within Google Workspace organizations. But they have no native interoperability beyond basic Google Calendar → Zoom meeting links.
This means:
- Zoom Team Chat messages are invisible to your Google Chat team
- Post-meeting summaries and action items require manual copy-paste
- Teams split between platforms lose conversational context
The solution is a dedicated interoperability layer that bridges both APIs.
What You Can Sync Between Zoom and Google Chat
Live Messaging Sync
Zoom Team Chat channels ↔ Google Chat spaces, bidirectionally in real time. A message in Zoom appears in Google Chat in real time, typically within seconds — and vice versa.
Post-Meeting Automation
SyncRivo bridges chat messages, not meeting data. It does not automatically push meeting summaries, action items, recording links, or transcripts. When someone shares a summary or recording link in a bridged Zoom Team Chat channel, it reaches the paired Google Chat space like any other message. For automated post-meeting posts, use Zoom's own summary and sharing features.
Notification Routing
SyncRivo does not route Zoom meeting events (meeting started/ended, recording available, participant join/leave), and messages posted by bots or apps are not relayed. Use Zoom's and Google's native notification options for those alerts; SyncRivo bridges the human conversation between the two platforms.
Step-by-Step Setup
Step 1: Create a SyncRivo Account
Visit syncrivo.ai/pricing and book a demo. The Enterprise plan (custom pricing) supports connections and channel mappings across all platforms.
Step 2: Connect Zoom
- In SyncRivo, click Add Platform → Zoom
- Sign in with your Zoom account (Admin recommended)
- Authorize the SyncRivo Zoom app with requested scopes
Zoom scopes: the SyncRivo Zoom app requests the Team Chat scopes it needs for channels, messages, and users — review them on the consent screen.
Step 3: Connect Google Chat
- Click Add Platform → Google Chat
- Sign in with your Google Workspace Admin account
- Authorize the SyncRivo app and assign it to the relevant Google Chat spaces
Note: Google Chat API requires the SyncRivo service account to be added as a member of each Space you want to sync.
Step 4: Configure Live Chat Sync
In the Channel Mappings section:
- Select the Zoom Team Chat channel to sync
- Select the Google Chat space to pair with it
- Save the mapping — bridges sync in both directions
- Thread replies stay threaded on both sides
Step 5: Configure Post-Meeting Automation
SyncRivo does not have a meeting-automation feature. To keep post-meeting follow-up visible to both teams:
- Pick the bridged Zoom Team Chat channel and Google Chat space that should carry meeting follow-up
- Share the summary, action items, or recording link in that channel (manually, or with Zoom's own sharing features)
- Discuss follow-ups in either platform — replies stay in sync
Step 6: Test
- Send a message in Zoom Team Chat and confirm it appears in your paired Google Chat space
- Reply from Google Chat and confirm the reply appears in the Zoom thread
Compliance & Security
Message content is not stored on the normal relay path — SyncRivo keeps only message IDs to keep threads, edits, and reactions in sync. Security highlights:
- ✅ Encrypted in transit (TLS); OAuth tokens encrypted at rest
- ✅ BAA available for Enterprise customers
- ✅ DPA and sub-processor list available
- ✅ OAuth 2.0 authorization (no passwords stored)
For healthcare organizations using Zoom for telehealth and Google Workspace for internal operations, a BAA is available for SyncRivo Enterprise customers; confirm Zoom's and Google's own BAA coverage for your plans.
Common Use Cases
Remote Teams on Google Workspace
Your team uses Google Chat daily but relies on Zoom for all external meetings. Bridge the Zoom Team Chat channel your team uses around calls to the right Google Chat space, so follow-ups posted in either place reach both — without manual paste.
Sales & RevOps
Share customer call follow-ups in a bridged Zoom Team Chat channel so your RevOps team in Google Chat sees them.
Engineering Standups
Run Zoom standups but track action items in Google Chat project spaces. Bridge the standup channel so updates posted in either platform reach both.
Get Started
With the Zoom + Google Chat integration, the first channel bridge is typically live during onboarding, once your Zoom and Google Workspace admins approve the app.
